Vintage Yanagisawa S-6 Soprano SaxThis is a nice example of the very popular early Yanagisawa Sopranos with the Selmer Mark Vi copied keywork. These were often favored over the Selmer's for their better intonation.
This is what they call a Player's horn - one has been played quite a bit by it's former owner and such most of the lacquer has been worn away. Now days many horn manufacturers are making unlacquered horns to give it this look and feel, but in a vintage horn like this it's a sign of a good player when a horn was this well loved and played. According to my tech this horn's body tube may have been bent at one time, but was repaired well and doesn't effect any playability. (I just believe in full disclosure)
I bought this one the past couple years as a back up to my Yanagisawa S800 and put it through a full overhaul by Collins Hornworks with Black Roo Pads and metal resonators. I chose it over a Yamaha 62 Purple Logo that was also at the shop, but I actually preferred the warmth of this Yani and nice resonance it has, probably due to it being mostly bare brass. It's a great player and needs nothing. It's only been played a few times times since the overhaul as this was my back up horn. I've realized I really don't need a back up soprano, but more so need a back up tenor. I don't want such a good horn to just sit around so here's your chance to own a great soprano with that vintage patina for the instant street cred!
I'll pack it well, but as always with saxophones I encourage getting it looked over by your tech for any adjustment.
