Description
For sale is a very early Conn Shooting Star alto sax. Serial number 2102.To the best of my knowledge these were made in France and assembled in Kenosha Wisconsin.
It is absolutely identical to a Vito Kenosha horn I had (except for a detail in the neck receiver).
It was completely disassembled and cleaned, and has had full mechanical overhaul.
All new Music Medic firm pads with domed nylon resonators were used.
The toneholes were leveled and all the keywork was adjusted and regulated.
All new corks and felts were installed.
The body of the horn is unlacquered and was hand polished. The keys have some lacquer.
It has a silky sort of appearance and is showing a uniform patina.
It has
one small dent at the bottom of the bow and
a few small dings here and there.
These are excellent alto saxophones built with quality workmanship and materials.
I have played this horn
on the overhaul for about a year
as a
back-up alto
and I love the sound.
It has responded well to both my Meyer and Brillhart mouthpieces.
It has a fast light action.
As you can see I have added a riser on the D palm key and a custom left-hand thumb rest for comfort.
It comes in a lightly used ProTec PB304CT case in perfect condition.
A Yamaha 5C student mouthpiece is included on request.
