Vintage Butterfly Trade Mark Carbide Lamp Coal Miners Head Light Brass Lantern.
Appears to be in very good used condition.
These lanterns used carbide pellets as fuel.  When water was added to the reservoir it produced acetylene gas which produced a very bright flame.
Early miners and cavers used these before battery operated lights were bright enough.
Very cool historical collectable.
