Vintage 60's BENETONE by Alfredo Santoni, Italian Alto Sax. MOGAR Model with Original Case. Sax Serial #22849. Neck Serial #23849 (Fascinating to see a one digit difference between the body and the neck).
After extensive research, comparing bell to body braces, pinky keys, palm keys,.....etc., this is what I found: a well preserved Santoni Italian alto that's clean, *adjusted, and ready for play. Action is quick and smooth with comfortable ergonomics. Pads, corking, and felt's are all in very good to great condition. The tone is lively and rounded on the included Selmer Goldentone 3 mouthpiece. If you're looking for a vintage Italian alto that looks and plays great, this is it. Cosmetically, there are no dents or dings, hardly any scuffs or scratches, and just some random tiny spot finish wear that's difficult to detect. The original case is sturdy and has been cleaned. The right latch works, but does not spring back, the left latch is broken, so I installed a middle latch that works great. Included with the case are a microfiber polishing cloth, the original black end cap, a vintage neckstrap, and the Selmer Goldentone 3 mouthpiece w/ligature, cap, and new Rico Plasticover reed.
