    To My Aunt, Madame Delafield, Fifth Avenue & Broadway, New York
    Shewang and Squaw Beach, near the Lite house opposite fire Island, twenty miles from New York in the State of New Jersey, Middlesex County, United States of North America
    My dear Ant,
    I take my pen in my fingers bein some anxious to let you know that I are well except the small-pox & hope you be enjoyin' the same blessings. Fish bite well now here & I are extraordinarily* engaged in the clam trade - Garden truck is comin' on fast I send you some cabbage, the blunderbuss kind - we use 'em for signal guns when the powder's wet - And some turnips, the ruty-bagy sort - and some beets which botanists call the dialetria spectabilis genus - aint I some on big terms - genus you know is latin - and some pumpkins, the Chumbwago(?) - Mount Caucasus style, we make sheds of the rind & bonded ware-houses for the wrecker(?).
    I hope to see you as soon as I git a big sloop of clams & garden sass on board - to bring to New York - Kiss Pamelia Ann, Jemima Gertrude, & Marie Antoinette Eliza Jane for me & other friends. -TURN OVER- We are enjoyin ourselves well - when kin you come for to see us - Give my love to all the Gals - Our folks fine me
