    Fine and rare letter written by Sir William Knollys to an Alexander Johnston discussing payment for a portrait of Flora Macdonald (1722-1790) he is selling to the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, Macdonald helped Prince Charles Edward escape after the Battle of Culloden in 1746 by disguising him as her maid, escorting him from her home in the Hebrides to the mainland.
