    Description

    ANTOINETTE STERLING
This is a signed letter by Antoinette Sterling (1850-1904),
a famous classical singer of the 19th century.
Also included is a vintage tobacco card of Miss Sterling.
This letter is handwritten on a piece of stationery
on which her street address in London is printed
(9 St. Georges Square, Belgrave Road S.W.; see scans).
The letter is written on both sides. The writing is
somewhat faded, but is still legible (although I find
her penmanship at times difficult to decipher).
She was married to a man named James MacKinlay.
This letter is signed using her married name of
    "Antoinette MacKinlay" (see scan 2).
The letter was folded in half at the time of writing, and
    was subsequently folded twice more.
Unfolded, the letter is about 7" by 9".
It is in very good condition, with creases where it has been
folded, and some notations in pencil by a previous collector.
Included with the letter is a Wills cigarette card of Antoinette Sterling,
issued in 1914 by the Imperial Tobacco Company of Great Britain.
The card is in very good condition: there are no creases or any
other noticeable defects (see last two scans).
