For more info and additional high-resolution photos, visit dcsax.com!Selmer Super Action 80 alto saxophone, s/n 369219. This sax was made in 1985, the last year that Selmer made this model. The Super Action 80 was released after the Mark VI and VII models. Some refer to this model as a Series I, but its official name is a Super Action 80. These are fabulous horns that are a bit overlooked, since relatively few were made. It’s an interesting playing horn that is unlike any other Selmer model. They tend to have a more focused and compact sound than a Series II, but are on the darker side. For this reason, I think they make a fabulous crossover horn that can do both classical and jazz equally well. It’s as easy to make this horn sing with a New York Meyer as it is with a Selmer Concept mouthpiece. Few horns can do this as well as a Series I.
This is one of the cleanest Super Action 80's you're likely to find. The horn was barely played in its life and is nearly mint condition. I don't see any dents or dings, and very few scratches. My repairman just serviced this horn, so it's playing very well from top to bottom. The pads appear to be original, but are still soft and sealing well. The case is original to the horn and is in excellent condition, having spent its life protected by a case cover.
Buyers are free to return the sax for any reason, provided you pay shipping and insurance both ways. Returns are subject to a 3% restocking fee.
