Description

TWO PHILATELIC EVENTS IN MANTOVA, ITALY
POSTMARKED TWICE: 1946 and 1949
To make a historical record of the Philatelic Convention in Mantova, Italy in 1949, Victor Perantoni invited five of the event's organizers to sign their names on a postcard event organized by the 6 friends in 1946.  In this way, Victor Perantoni commemorated the 1949 philatelic event in Mantova with a historical philatelic postcard of 1946 posted with early Republic Airmail stamp postmarked in 1946 plus a 1948 'Risorgimento' commemorative postmarked in 1949.
1) First Post-War Philatelist Convention
held October 1946, Mantova, Italy.
2) The Provincial Philatelist Day held
on 8 May 1949 in Mantova. Italy.
(Mantova is my birth-town)
The 5 signatures of renown Philatelists added to Victor's in 1949 are:
Dr. Albino Bassi - Bernardelli - Cabianca - Nicodem - and Germani.
This postcard was written by Victor (Vittorio) Perantoni to himself, addressed to our family's wine-exporting business office in Mantova (Mantua) northern Italy.  The cash-registers of our family Cafe' & Wine Bottling shop, and the cash drawers at their exporting business office were the origin of our store's fascist and pre-fascist coins that had become worthless due to Italy's defeat from WW2 in 1945.  But now, in the 21st century, those coins have become valuable once again, as we sell them here in our family eBay store named in his honor,
Victor Perantoni.
Note that one of the two stamps that Victor used to mail this postcard was from Italy's first two Airmail stamps authorized by the Allied Military Government soon after King Victor Emmanuel III had been deposed, and Italy became a sovereign Republic in June '46.
To mail this postcard across town (Mantova) in 1946, Victor Perantoni used one of these two expensive Airmail stamps because of its post-war historical significance: "A handshake of friendship in the new age of jet propulsion.   Quite a contrast from Mussolini's bellicose fascist stamps of previous years.
