  • Condition: Original lacquer on saxophone body and neck is 95% present and gleaming. No freckling, corrosion or re-soldering work anywhere. A few slight dings on body and slight scratches around the neck strap loop area is why I would not rate it Mint. Easily would pass for EXcellent condition. (the largest ding is shown in the last photo). All new corks, felts and Music Medic leather pads. Original neck and end-plug are in Mint condition. There is a very small spot of lacquer discoloration on the back of the neck which measures about 1/8" x1/2". Original leather case is in Good condition. The case is missing the side handle, has a tear on the bottom about 3/8"x4", and a new handle replacement for the main handle. The case fabric is still all present - no rips or tears - but is a bit worn down - no bald spots. Locks and hinges all in very good working condition (includes case key).

    Description

    This Martin Committee III (with an RMC Badge on the front of the bell) has been well cared for its entire life.  Its serial # of 212xxx indicates that it was produced around 1961 -  the same timeframe as the "Music Man" version which is the rarest of the Committees.
    Upon taking possession, it played pretty well; but I wanted this rare beauty to be in tip top shape so it was overhauled in December 2020.
    Overhaul included:
    1) Entire saxophone disassembled, sax body and neck ultrasonically cleaned with Tesch Classic Brass cleaning solution.
    2) Rods polished.
    3) Post screw and key hinge openings cleaned with pipe cleaners and given fresh Ultimax  key oil
    4) Springs inspected and polished
    5) All pads replaced with MusicMedic leather pads
    6) All felt pads, cork pads, and neck cork replaced
    8) After reassembly - entire sax checked for leaks - pads/keys adjusted to ensure proper seating/sealing then the instrument was play tested.
    To the best of my knowledge it' has resided in non-smoking environments its entire life.  With the Tesch ultrasonic cleaning, it is super clean inside and out.
    This saxophone is very fast and responsive - it plays as well as it looks!!
    It is being sold "As Is" but you would be hard pressed to find another in this condition at this price with this much information - no need to guess the condition of the sax body under the keys or how the pads look).   I have a 20+ year Positive Feedback rating on ebay. All of my previous eBay saxophone buyers have been very pleased with their purchases.  You will like this horn!!
