Description

Authentic replica of the Type III 1874 Canteen Cover used by the US Army in the west in the Spanish American War, marked with the unique block USV stamp. The second of the Army’s “double cover canteens”, this cover set represents the Army’s attempt to recondition Civil War surplus canteens with the addition of a khaki drab duck canvas outer cover that slips over a full covered canteen with sling attached. Generally, the bottom sling swivel should be removed on this version before installation.
My set comes complete with one jean wool inner cover and one khaki drab duck outer cover. Canteen, cork stopper and spout ring and sling/buckle are not included. Canteen shown for example of installation but NOT included with this cover set.
