"H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival & Cthulucon" - SCARCE Promo Card (4-1/4" x 6") - MINT condition. This SCARCE promo card with the wonderful likeness of H.P Lovecraft was issued to promote the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival & Cthulucon held in Portland, Oregon on October 3-4-5, 2008. H.P. Lovecraft achieved posthumous fame through his influential works of horror fiction. During his lifetime, however, he was virtually unknown and only published in pulp magazines. Long after his death (in 1937), his works came into the mainstream, and today, he is regarded as one of the most significant 20th-century authors in his genre. Among his most celebrated tales is "The Call of Cthulhu" and "The Shadow over Innsmouth", canonical to the Cthulhu Mythos. Never able to support himself from earnings as an author and an editor, commercial success eluded him during hjs lifetime, and he died in virtual poverty at only 46 years-old, partly because he lacked the confidence and drive to promote himself. Today, most of his works are considered as masterpieces of horror. Too bad he was never able to enjoy this acclaim during his lifetime. No collection of H.P.
