    4-page letter signed Wm. Russell, date lined Green, October 16, 1866.  A newsy letter in which Russell writes a short paragraph about baseball.
    There is a Base Ball Match on the course this PM. between the Sheridan of Green  Nationals of Binghamton, a large number of persons goes to see them play.
    An early mention of baseball.  In 1871 the first professional league, the National Association of Professional Base Ball Players, was founded.
