    Description

Up for bid today is a rare Pioneer carbide caplamp in outstanding condition. Lamp is 100% complete. This is either Model 125 or 130, as described on a photocopy of a catalog page from Dunham, Carrigam, & Hayden Co. which is included. The complete inscription on the lamp reads "TRADE MARK GUARANTEED SATISFACTION, PAT DEC 17 1901. BALDWIN PAT. MARCH 11, 1913, OTHERS PENDING. This lamp was manufactured by John Simmons Company, under the Pioneer name, and was reportedly last produced in 1919-20. These models have "self adjusting" water drip mechanisms, which means they automatically adjusted flow of drips based in gas pressure/temperature of the lamp bottom. (The drip mechanism on these lamps don't "click" like those on most other models). This lamp has all parts including tip, reflector, flint wheel/striker (works!), rubber gasket, felt, and felt retainer. It has a few minor dings visible in the photos, but no holes or cracks. I did not attempt to fire/light this lamp, but everything about it suggests that it would work fine if someone wanted to fire it up for some reason. However, as I did not fire it I cannot guarantee it; the lamp may not have been fired in almost 100 years.  Pioneer lamps like this in this condition rarely come up for auction, and are a wonderful addition to any collection. FREE SHIPPING! (Continental US only). All international shipments MUST go thru ebay's international program or a US based reshipping service. Thanks for looking.
