    Description

Brand New carbide cap lamp pocket repair kit, consisting of brass-type case, brand-new lifetime brass tip, standard Justrite felt, Justrite rubber gasket, 3 Premier brand flints, 3 handled wire reamers, and small brass cleaning brush.  All parts should fit most regular cap-lamps. The contents are a combination of parts I assembled from various sources to re-create this kit, which was originally produced and distributed by Tennessee Mining Products Corporation last century. These burner tips are brand new, all-brass (no ceramic) tips I had especially made for these kits.  The primary reason lamps from last century used ceramic tips was because they didn't have the technology readily available to drill small enough jet-holes in brass; they made the jet-holes in the ceramic when it was still wet then fired them in a kiln. Unlike ceramic which can crack or chip, these tips should last for the life of your lamp, and should fit most standard caplamps including Justrite, Autolite, Guy's Dropper, Premier, Butterfly etc., and many hand lamps as long as they use standard tips.  I have tested these tips on a variety of caplamps, and am currently using these on all of my field lamps; I have over 400 hours of use on my primary lamp with one of these brass tips and it continues to work perfectly. (I have included photos showing the tip being used on a standard Guy's Dropper, Autolite, and Justrite caplamps, and photos of these brass tips alongside a standard ceramic tip for comparison.) However, please note that some models of some lamps (especially very early models) had unusual tip configurations and/or sizes and these might not work, or might require some slight filing to make them fit. The pocket case is a brass-colored metal with screw lid almost identical to that of a small mason-jar lid; I assume it is tin or aluminum. The felts and gasket are original Justrite parts, the handled wire reamers and brass brush are recent items I outsourced, and the flints are original Premier flints. This is a fun, nostalgic kit to own, and will make a nice addition to any collection or more importantly great for actual use. Please refer to photos for best, most accurate description. (The lamps and ceramic tip shown in the photos are for demonstration/comparison only and are not included.) Thanks for looking.
