    T
    his listing is for a
    Buescher Aristocrat
alto saxophone. The serial number is 425,xxx. It was manufactured in the mid 1960's, shortly after Selmer bought out Buescher. This horn is exactly the same as the Selmer Bundys that were made at that time, hence why I refer to it as a "Bundy type".
Selmer continued to sell this model under both the Buescher Aristocrat brand name, as well as branded as a Selmer Bundy. This was a hugely popular student model sax in the 1960's and 70's. The design is simple, but tried and true. They have solid intonation, and were built much more sturdy than today's horns. Remember, this was made back when instruments were designed to last, not to be disposable!
This one is in ready to play condition right out of the box! I have just gone over it from top to bottom, making minor repairs and adjustments as needed. I replaced a few pads and key corks, and did some tweaking so that all of the pads are sealing properly with a light touch. It plays great now, as you can hear in the video demonstration below.
    See the product in action.
This sax is in overall very good physical condition. The body is perfectly straight. The neck has not been pulled down, or otherwise damaged. There is a dent on the bow (see picture where I am pointing), and some minor pings and nicks, but none of this affects how it plays. The key guards are all straight. I don't see any re-soldered joints. The lacquer is mostly intact, with normal wear and scratching consistent with use, but not abuse. The keys are all moving freely and fluidly. The pads are in good condition, and sealing properly.
This sax comes with its original Bundy plastic mouthpiece, which is in excellent condition. It has been cleaned/sanitized, so it is ready to use. Also included are a ligature, mouthpiece cap, neck strap, marching lyre, cork grease, and cleaning supplies. Reeds are not included, but I have some available separately.
This sax comes in its original case. The case is in fair condition. It is solid and functional, but it has a lot of tape around the exterior edges because the trim was coming off (quite typical with this style of case). The inside has normal wear and tear, but it is odor free.
This is a great horn for beginner to intermediate level players on a budget. It would also make a great backup, or double for more advanced players.
