Description
These are one-of-a-kind hand-made Jewish Wedding Shoes for a Jewish bride, used and made in the late 1800's, early 1900's. At one time, there was a flourishing Sephardic Jewish community in Bombay, India. The rituals and life cycle events can now only be witnessed through photographs and material culture. Examples of these wedding shoes can be found in the Israel Museum Publication, "The Jews of Cochin and Bombay India". They are hand embroidered with silver and the top of the soles are painted with gold gilt. These are truly authentic museum pieces. Notice the hand cobbler ring on the sole of the shoe. Truly a rare find. They measure 10 1/2 " long and 3 3/4 " at it's widest part. Guaranteed authentic and reasonably priced.
