1897 Lewisville Indiana McWane restaurant tobacco-cigars letters & envelope set!

Check it out...Here's a unique original set of six pieces (three letters, three envelopes) from a Lewisville Indiana cigar store in 1897. All three letters are 8 1/2" wide by 11" tall and all are on letterhead reading: "J. McWane, dealer in fresh bread and candies, cigars and tobacco, canned goods, lunch at all hours, oysters and any style. New bakery. Restaurant. Lewisville Indiana with an open ended date of 189_" first letter dated January 12, 1897 reads: "Mr. A Steffen – dear Sir please find enclosed money order for .51 for bill of December 11 bill of tobacco. Truly yours, J McWane" and comes in the original mailing envelope from same. Second letter is dated May 17, 1897 and reads: "Mr. A Steffen, dear Sir, please send me a box of 24 pounds 6 for 10 tobacco. Please send the tobacco to Kingan & Co. store meatpackers + they will bill it with the hams + in close of them same bill + I will remit. Very truly yours, J. McWane" and is contained in its original mailing envelope. And the last letter is dated June 23, 1897 and reads: "Mr. A Steffen – dear Sir, please find enclosed money order for .04 – bill of tobacco May 18 please send receipt yours truly J McWane." And comes with its original mailing envelope. A great set connected to the Historic Indiana National Road-A great vintage set ready for display- Could be a real sleeper item fun to research. In other words, if you intend on using a 50+ year old letter opener and it breaks, don't get mad at us. It may be hard to believe, but we have received a couple negatives because people broke vintage items while trying to use them.
