    Description

1883 Letter - From A Teacher who later died tragically
To:  Miss Flora Marks, North Penobscot, Maine
From: O.M. Doyle in Adin, CA - online research shows this was Otis M. Doyle.  Born 1864, Maine.  Parents lived in Milford CA.  He had been the Superintendent of Lassen County CA Schools 1894-1902.  Mention of Susanville CA.
He died tragically after his car ran over him at the cemetery where he was visiting his son's grave in 1917 - see photo for old newspaper clipping.  O.M. Doyle's father Stephen Doyle was apparently an early settler of Honey Lake Valley CA around 1869.
Contents:  He is teaching in Adin CA and has "fourteen pupils."    "(I) do not mind storms now, as there would be no crops in Honey Lake Valley if we did not have storms." His father (thought to be living in Milford CA at this time) has 180 acres of grain crops, his school mate is teaching in Fall River Valley.
