1866 Letter on Cincinnati Hat Dealer Letterhead. Missing Letter containing .

Posey, Flinn & Pugh.  Wholesale Hat Dealer. Cincinnati.  1866 handwritten letter on company letterhead.  Concerns a missing letter containing .  "inform you of the non-arrival of letter said to contain - it is somewhat strange, first one gone astray since we moved in our new store can not account for it".  "You will please send us the exact date you mailed it & the precise directions, if it would be no trouble, as you pass by the Post Office, just "drop in" & report the missing letter, tell date, directions. Report to the headquarters."  "Meantime such fail to send me the necessary information, so as to make my report..., it is indeed very strange that with such directions it should go astray, while others from you & Marie should be received at the same time, also before and after".  Obviously written in a very passive-aggressive tone, I believe he is writing to a family member rather than a customer.  He then goes on with various pleasantries, etc. you would find in a normal family letter (my guess is to a brother-in-law since he is writing on behalf of his wife).
