    Description

    1830 stampless cover letter addressed to Captain Richard Dow of Wakefield, New Hampshire, describing the spring weather in New York City. The recipient is the sender's mother. There is a piece cut from the back page that does not infringe on the content of the letter, a void where the letter was opened from the seal, a few pin head sized voids at the intersections of creases in the paper, and a small tear across the middle crease (see photo). The sheet measures 9 1/1 inches in height and 15 1/2 inches wide.
